Traditional craftsmanship
The making of our gloves
Crafting leather gloves is one of the most demanding disciplines in traditional leatherwork. It requires deep material knowledge, precise execution, and exceptional manual skill. At Armèlle, we preserve this heritage with a modern approach, focusing on every detail from raw material to final finish.
Each pair of Armèlle gloves is entirely handmade. We do not rely on industrial shortcuts, but instead follow processes that respect the rhythm of the material and the expertise of our artisans.
Leather selection and its properties
The leather we use is carefully selected according to strict quality criteria. We work only with natural hides that offer the required elasticity, texture, and strength to ensure an ergonomic fit and soft feel. Each hide is individually inspected to meet our standards.
Because leather is a natural material and we work in limited quantities, subtle color variations between models may occur. These differences make each pair unique and reflect the authenticity of the product. Depending on the collection, we offer both classic tones and seasonal palettes.
A manual process of over 20 steps
Creating a single pair of Armèlle gloves involves more than twenty manual steps. The process begins with gently moistening and stretching the leather, followed by cutting patterns that define the final fit. This step is critical, as it determines how the glove will adapt to the hand.
During stitching, every movement must be exact. Unlike other materials, leather leaves no room for error: a misplaced hole cannot be undone. Our artisans use traditional tools and techniques passed down over generations, applying full attention to detail throughout the process.
After stitching, each glove is hand-ironed to achieve a smooth and even finish. Decorative elements such as chains, trims, or rivets are also applied by hand, one by one, with the same level of care.
A craft with history
Glove-making has a long-standing tradition in Europe, especially in countries such as France, Spain, and Italy. As early as the 18th century, handcrafted leather gloves were considered a symbol of refinement, technical skill, and social status. This legacy continues to shape our work today, combining historical craftsmanship with contemporary design and function.
At Armèlle, we interpret this tradition through a modern lens, without compromising on the integrity or beauty of artisanal processes.
Recognizable quality
We collaborate exclusively with carefully selected partners who share our commitment to quality. Every glove that leaves our workshop undergoes a rigorous process aimed at achieving both aesthetic excellence and lasting comfort.
The embossed Armèlle logo on each model marks its authenticity and reflects the level of care behind its creation.
